Parking provision in new development
The Council has adopted a new supplementary planning document on parking. The 'Provision of Parking in New Development Supplementary Planning Document' (Parking SPD) was adopted at a meeting of the Council's Cabinet on 6th June 2013. The SPD provides guidance for developers and planning officers regarding the level of parking provision in new development, and advice on matters including design of parking areas, visitor spaces, disabled parking, motorcycle and cycle parking. An adoption statement, setting out what changes have been made since the draft version was made available for consultation is also available. What has been done previously?
The Council carried out two previous consultations on the content of the Parking SPD. The most recent was held between March-May 2013 and sought views on the draft version of the document. Meeting Housing Needs
ADOPTED Meeting Housing Needs SPD (June 2012)
Adopted in June 2012, this SPD provides additional guidance on planning issues concerning affordable housing. It superseded a previous Meeting Housing Needs SPD which had been in place since February 2007.

Air Quality and Development

Adopted in May 2008, this SPD provides additional guidance on planning issues concerning air quality in Mid Devon.

The Local Plan Part III is intended to replace the SPD policy on air quality. New development will be expected to part-fund air quality improvements through the Community Infrastructure Levy.

Adopted in May 2008, this SPD provides guidance on the provision of open space in association with developments. This is supported by the Open Space and Play Area Strategy 2007 and the Play Strategy for Mid Devon 2007 - 2010.
The Council has prepared a draft Green Infrastructure Plan (GIP) which includes a Strategy to 2026 and Delivery Plan. This is intended to replace the current open space Supplementary Planning Document, which is more limited in its scope and will become redundant once the Community Infrastructure Levy is introduced.
