Garden waste can be put in your brown bin, which is emptied on a fortnightly basis. This bin can take hedge clippings, grass cuttings, weeds, and branches up to 10 centimetres (4 inches) thick. You cna also put card all types of food waste (including cooked food) in this bin.
It is important that this bin does not become too heavy to handle. Our bins are suitable for up to 90 kilograms.

You could compost your extra garden waste at home:
As well as using the Council's organic waste collection scheme, you can compost at home and produce a useful material to feed your garden. Mid Devon residents can purchase a garden waste compost bin at a discount of over 50% on shop prices. E-mail customerservices@middevon.gov.uk to ask for an information leaflet and order form.

You can rent an extra brown bin from the Council:
You can rent an extra wheeled bin from the council for an annual charge of £39.00, or less if you begin renting part-way through the year. This bin will be emptied along with your regular brown bin. The capacity of the extra bin is 140 litres, which might be slightly smaller than your normal bin. There will be no refunds if the bin is returned before April.
