The Council provides many different housing services. Please use the links on the left to find out more.

Housing Needs Service

This Service deals with homelessness and provides housing advice.  It is also responsible for maintaining the Council's Housing Register and the letting of Council homes through our choice-based lettings scheme called Devon Home Choice.

Building Maintenance Service

This Service is responsible for all day-to-day repairs, planned maintenance and improvements to the Council's Housing stock. It is responsible for bringing all our properties up to the government's Decent Homes Standard.

The Building Maintenance Service also deal with minor aids and adaptations to assist people with disabilities. See pages 12-14 in your pdf icon Tenant Handbook [361kb] for details.

Housing Services

This Service deals with all issues relating to the management of Council housing. It has a number of Area Neighbourhood Teams:

Exe (Tiverton and surrounding area) - Lisa Harber, Debbie Jenks, Liz Fisher

Culm (Cullompton and surrounding area) - Marian Axtell, Hayley Ingham, Sharon Rice

Creedy (Crediton and surrounding area) - Mary Sergeant, Yvonne Britton, Hayley Webber

Area Neighbourhood Teams are responsible for tenancy issues such as mutual exchanges, succession of tenancy, garage lettings, permission to improve, leasehold management and the administration of the Right to Buy scheme. They are also responsible for our estate inspection programme which can be found at Neighbourhood Walkabouts.

They manage rent collection and arrears recovery from current and former tenants, and the recovery of other housing debts, as well as tackling nuisance and anti-social behaviour in and around Council properties.

Tenant Involvement Team are responsible for involving all Council tenants and leaseholders in the management and decision-making processes of the Housing Service.  The team provides support and assistance to our established Area Tenant Groups and to the District Tenants Forum. The team coordinates all tenant involvement activity such as tenant focus groups, working parties and other events, information for which can be found at Tenant Involvement.

Care Service Team are responsible for sheltered housing schemes and housing with warden services. Also responsible for tenants who receive Supporting People funding to assist them in maintaining their tenancies.
