This project has developed between Mid Devon's Licensing Team, the police and Devon County's Trading Standards and its aim is to reduce the sales of alcohol to those underage by a combination of education, enforcement and working with the community. The desired outcomes should be to give retailers more confidence in dealing with underage sales; make young people more aware of the harms and consequences associated with alcohol; and improve the perception of Mid Devon as a safe place to go out at night. Part of the project has been the development of training for the licence holders which has been held in Mid Devon's main office - Phoenix House. This started in August 2010 and since then we have rolled out a programme of training for those running pubs, clubs, supermarkets, off-licences and village halls. If you are interested in attending this training please phone 01884 244617 or email licensing@middevon.gov.uk. We are encouraging retailers to accept PASS (Proof of Age Standards Scheme) cards as ID and have also been talking to the schools and colleges to encourage uptake. If anyone wants to apply for one or find out more about the PASS accreditation go to this website - www.pass-scheme.org.uk. |

We are also happy to accept any licensing enquiries in relation to our pubs, clubs, off-licences as well as enquiries about whether a licence is needed or not. You may also email us with any issues about licensed premises in Mid Devon. We are not a substitute for your own legal advice but we will certainly do our best to help you. The email address is cap@middevon.gov.uk.
