Gambling Act Consultation

Mid Devon District Council recently consulted on a draft Gambling Act Statement of Principles and received no comments to the consultation.

This was then taken to the licensing committee for comment and recommendation for approval at Full Council. It was approved by Full Council on 15 December 2021. The policy has replaced the previous policy and came into effect on 31 January 2022.

The Policy will continue to assist in promoting the following three licensing objectives:

• preventing gambling from being a source of crime or disorder, being associated with crime or disorder or being used to support crime;
• ensuring that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way, and;
• protecting children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited by gambling.
