On 18 May 2020, the Minister for Housing, MP Christopher Pincher, wrote a letter to all social housing tenants setting out the support measures the Government intends to take during the next phase to reopen society.

As a landlord, we’re committed to ensuring the safety of tenants, their household members and our staff. To this end, we’re reviewing our procedures and working out how to ensure that social distancing measures can be maintained for the time-being. We’re looking to put in place a phased approach, in line with relevant guidance, and therefore you cannot expect a return to business as normal for a while.

We realise that some people are very anxious to move to alternative accommodation and we’ve been looking at safe lettings procedures. We’re also working out how we can manage mutual exchanges to ensure that all those involved are kept safe and well.

With regard to repairs, there’s a backlog which has built up over the last eight weeks of the lockdown and it'll take some time to work through this.

We’re adapting to the new circumstances and if you need to liaise with us about this, you can call either our Housing or Building Services teams via 01884 255255, or send us a direct message via our Facebook page @mddchousing. You can also email repairs@middevon.gov.uk about maintenance issues or htenancy@middevon.gov.uk for management issues.
