Gypsy and Traveller Forum

Dear Gypsy and Traveller Community,

The period since March 2020 has been an exceptional and difficult time facing everyone in coping with the Covid-19 pandemic. We hope that you are keeping well, and as we start a new year, we hope that 2022 will see a return to normality for us all.

We have arranged the next meeting of the Mid Devon Gypsy and Traveller Forum which will take place on Tuesday 15th February at 4pm. This will coincide with our consultation about what issues should be focused on for a new Local Plan for Mid Devon.

This meeting will be held remotely on-line via Zoom. To register your interest and receive the joining instructions to the Zoom meeting please contact Mid Devon District Council at or telephone 01884 234344.

The forum is open to all Gypsies and Travellers in Mid Devon to attend. It is intended to provide a safe place to discuss concerns and issues and to build positive relationships. Everyone will have the right to have their say and be listened to.

Topics for the meeting will include:

  • Learn Devon – job preparation skills– English, Maths, ESOL and digital skills
  • Plan Mid Devon – consultation about what issues the new Local Plan should focus on
  • Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation Assessment – forthcoming survey to help us understand your current and future housing needs
  • Planning applications update
  • Parking for lorries
  • Covid 19 – matters arising
  • Open discussion to hear about what is important and matters most to you
  • How to raise the profile of the forum

We setup a Gypsy and Traveller Forum which was approved by our Cabinet on 1 March 2018, and follows the good practice established by the Teignbridge Gypsy and Traveller Forum:

The Forum will usually take place twice a year, with meetings in the spring and in the autumn.

If you have any questions or would like to register your interest in attending, please email
