Mid Devon District Council’s Housing Service manages over 3000 tenanted properties across almost 450 square miles of Devon countryside, with our main concentration of stock being in the towns of Tiverton, Crediton and Cullompton
We are looking for an experienced manager to lead our Housing Technical Support & Repairs Team which responds to both tenancy and repairs enquiries, supports our tenancy and repairs teams, prioritises repairs and agrees convenient appointments with our tenants. The Housing Repairs and Housing Tenancy Teams have recently restructured to form ‘Mid Devon Housing’. The Building Services Office Manager role is crucial to supporting this change, so a strong, robust character with change management experience is essential.
Although a background in building maintenance, housing management and/or an understanding of tenancy matters would be desirable, emphasis is being placed upon the ability to manage a busy team of around 9 Technical Support & Repairs Officers effectively, review processes and implementing change. Excellent organisational skills are required to prioritise workloads, provide advice and support, and ensure calls are handled quickly and effectively.
The ideal candidate will have excellent IT skills and experience of managing a busy office or a busy team.
Good working knowledge in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:
- Housing maintenance
- Tenancy management
- Anti-social behaviour
- Community support
- Diagnostic scripting
