We currently have a vacancy within our Street Scene & Open Spaces team based at Hitchcocks Business Park, Willand and covering the whole of the Mid Devon area. We are looking for a confident and organised person to work as part of a team in a busy operational environment.

As a Recycling officer, your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Working with our collection crews and residents to ensure that they are using our Waste and Recycling schemes correctly and promote all aspects of sustainable waste management. This will involve some early starts and the need to be physically fit.
  • Attending information days and community events to deliver information to the general public, businesses, schools, community groups, internal services and other stakeholders and should have an understanding of waste management policy and legislation. It may be necessary to work outside of core hours to attend such events.
  • Assisting in the design, delivery and implementation of the annual Communication Plan, update and maintain the services web pages and social media pages and respond to frequent press releases.

The successful candidate will need to have good organisational and interpersonal skills, and be able to communicate at all levels with the public and colleagues.  

Competence in the use of information technology (Microsoft Office) is essential as this role will involve looking at the Street Scene Systems review as part of new ways of working with ICT. The ability to produce and deliver presentations on Microsoft PowerPoint or similar electronic media is required.
