When's the polling day for the next general election?

Polling day for the next parliamentary general election will be Thursday, 12 December 2019, between the hours of 7:00am and 10:00pm.

How can I cast my vote?

If you live in the Eastern part of Mid Devon, your parliamentary constituency is 'Tiverton & Honiton'. This election is run by us.

If you live in the Western part of Mid Devon which covers the greater Crediton area and beyond, your parliamentary constituency is 'Central Devon'. This election is run by West Devon Borough Council.

If you live in the Central Devon constituency, visit westdevon.gov.uk.

Am I registered to vote?

Register to vote at GOV.UK - Register to vote. You'll need your National Insurance number and date of birth in order to register.

If you're not registered to vote, you'll need to register by Tuesday, 26 November to vote in the general election.

Please don't register online if you're already registered at your current address. Any new registration may cancel out an existing postal or proxy voting arrangement you have setup.

When can I expect to receive my poll card?

Poll cards will be sent around 11 November 2019. If you don't receive a poll card, you may not be on the electoral register. Please contact us to check.

If you live in the Central Devon constituency, either visit wheredoivote.co.uk or westdevon.gov.uk.

I'm away on polling day, can I apply for a postal or proxy vote instead?

Tiverton and Honiton Constituency postal votes will be sent out first class on 27 November

Central Devon Constituency postal votes will be sent on 29 November.

Postal votes applied for after 4 November will be on the later dispatch, around 2 December.

Overseas postal votes will be sent around 20 November.

Postal votes will be opened at our main office from 5 December.

The last day to apply for a postal vote is 5:00pm, Tuesday, 26 November.

The last day to apply for a proxy vote is 5:00pm, Wednesday, 4 December.

When will the verification and count of ballot papers take place?

Tiverton and Honiton constituency

The verification and count for the Tiverton and Honiton constituency will take place at at our main office.

The verification of votes will take place from 10:00pm, Thursday, 12 December.

Following the verification of votes, the count will start at 1:00am, Friday, 13 December.

The results will be declared by the Acting Returning Officer as soon as the count has finished, which is expected to be around 6:00am, Friday, 13 December. We'll publish the results on this page as soon as they're announced.
