Active Mid Devon to Host Drop-In Session for Unpaid Carers
A dedicated unpaid, adult carers drop-in session is to be held at Active Tiverton on Wednesday October 1 between 2.30pm and 4.30pm. The free session is designed to recognise the invaluable contribution of unpaid carers in our community. The event will offer carers an afternoon to focus on their own wellbeing in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
During the session, carers will be able to enjoy a wide variety of activities, including swimming, a Pilates class and a low-impact aerobics session. The afternoon will also provide opportunities to meet and connect with other unpaid carers, receive advice and guidance from Devon Carers, and take time to relax with refreshments, including tea, coffee and cake.
Councillor Josh Wright said:
“Unpaid carers provide vital support to family members, friends and loved ones, often without recognition or the chance to prioritise their own wellbeing. This free event is a small way of saying thank you and creating space for carers to enjoy time for themselves, try new activities, and connect with others in similar roles.”
Eligible individuals include those holding a Carers Passport.
In addition to this event, Active Tiverton will also be hosting Carers Rights Day on Thursday, 20 November. Devon Carers, Citizens Advice and Young Carers will be on site raising awareness and helping ensure carers receive the support they deserve.
