Active Mid Devon (AMD) is teaming up with Libraries Unlimited to support the community’s health and wellbeing with a free drop-in event at Tiverton Library.

On Friday 7 November, from 10am until 4pm, a team from Active Mid Devon will be based in The Pod at Tiverton Library offering free health checks. The checks include blood pressure monitoring to assess heart and artery health, and cholesterol testing which indicates your risk of heart disease and whether lifestyle changes could help reduce it.

Friendly advice will also be provided on fitness, wellbeing, and information about the range of facilities and services available through Active Mid Devon.

The event is open to everyone and provides a simple way for local residents to check in on their health, ask questions, and find out what support is available in the community.

Councillor Josh Wright, Cabinet Member for Service Delivery and Continuous Improvement said:

“I’m delighted to see Active Mid Devon bringing this kind of health and wellbeing support to the heart of our community and investing in the future of our residents. We hope to extend these sessions to more rural areas in the future, making health and wellbeing support even more accessible to everyone.
Events like this help people take simple, positive steps towards healthier lifestyles, and I would encourage everyone to come along, take part, and make the most of the advice and health checks on offer.”

Health checks will take place in The Pod at Tiverton Library, providing a private and comfortable setting. Booking is recommended to secure your place.

To book, please email klee@middevon.gov.uk. There will be 20 cholesterol tests available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please note that the Active Mid Devon team are not medical professionals and any advice given will be generic. If abnormal results are found, we will recommend booking an appointment with your GP for further discussion.
