Grants now available to help Mid Devon businesses go green
Mid Devon District Council’s 2025 Green Enterprise Grant is now available to small and medium businesses in the district.
The Green Enterprise Grant scheme offers capital grants from £500 to £5,000, covering up to 50% of eligible project costs. Funded by Mid Devon District Council, it is open to small and medium sized local businesses who want to reduce their carbon footprint by investing in energy efficiency and renewable energy, or by efficient use of resources or materials. Projects should be fast to deliver and ready to go and must have a maximum project budget below £25,000.
Eligible projects could be initiatives to enhance energy efficiency and minimise carbon emissions such as energy-efficient lighting, low-energy heating systems, high-efficiency machinery, and renewable energy generation systems.

Councillor Natasha Bradshaw, Cabinet Member for Environment and Climate Change, said:
“The Council grants will support small businesses across Mid Devon to help them become more energy efficient, cutting costs and carbon to achieve their sustainability goals. We look forward to hearing from local enterprises who may benefit from our financial support as they invest to save.”
The new £30,000 scheme is funded by the Council’s climate and sustainability budget, and by driving local investment it will help achieve a Corporate Plan annual target to attract £100,000 of external funding to help reduce emissions in Mid Devon.
The Green Enterprise Grant scheme builds upon a Local Growth Fund supported pilot that provided grants to five Mid Devon Businesses during 2024-2025.
Swallow Court Devon Ltd received a grant to install low energy LED lighting in a number of their office suites and external areas.
Swallow Court Director, Karen Hassan, commented:
“The Green Enterprise Grant enabled us to invest in low energy technology that has significantly improved the quality and flexibility of lighting in a number of our office areas which is predicted to reduce electricity usage by up to 50%, providing considerable savings for our business tenants.”
