Local firms encouraged to attend Council’s free Business Rates Information Event
Following the Government’s Autumn Budget, Mid Devon District Council is holding a drop-in event to help local businesses understand the announced changes to Business Rates and the reliefs available, or any related matters such as problems in paying.
Revenues Officers will be available to explain how bills are calculated, outline what the changes mean, and answer specific queries.
The session will give businesses the opportunity to discuss their individual circumstances in detail and receive tailored guidance. At previous events, officers have been able to advise businesses on issues such as:
- Appealing a property valuation
- Using the Council’s online self-service account
- What to do when a property is split
- Procedures for notifying the Council when a new occupier moves in
- Recovery of arrears
The Economic Development team will also offer information, practical resources and guidance to help businesses address current challenges.
The free event will take place at the Council Offices in Tiverton. Businesses may drop in at any time during the session to ask questions and learn about the support available.
Councillor John Downes, Cabinet Member for Governance, Finance, and Risk, said:
“We are pleased to be able to offer a business rates drop in event following the recent budget announcement from Government. We have received positive feedback from previous events, where businesses were able to speak directly with the Revenues Officers about their Business Rates.”
