Mid Devon District Council has successfully completed major poolside upgrades at Active Crediton (formerly Lords Meadow Leisure Centre) and Active Tiverton (formerly Exe Valley Leisure Centre).

These extensive improvements, which include refurbished changing facilities, poolside areas and essential structural repairs, took place from March to June 2025 and form a key part of the Council’s ongoing investment in high-quality, accessible leisure facilities for the local community.

The newly refurbished areas now offer a modern, fresh, and more comfortable environment for users of all ages. Designed with accessibility, inclusivity, and sustainability in mind, the upgrades are already receiving positive feedback from customers returning to the centres.

The works coincided with the official launch of the new-look leisure service, Active Mid Devon - a refreshed identity for the district’s leisure service that reflects a broader commitment to health, wellbeing, and community activity.

Councillor Josh Wright, Cabinet Member for Service Delivery and Continuous Improvement, said:

“We’re proud to deliver on our promise of improving local leisure services. These upgrades represent a significant investment in community wellbeing, and we hope they will encourage even more people to get active, stay healthy, and make use of these fantastic spaces.”

Andy Mackie, Leisure Operations Manager at Active Mid Devon, added:

“We’re thrilled to welcome everyone back to Active Crediton and Active Tiverton with these upgraded facilities. Our teams worked incredibly hard to minimise disruption, and the result is a safer, more accessible, and much more welcoming space for all.”

Facilities are open and operating as normal, and all customers are invited to come and experience the new improvements first-hand.

Active Mid Devon continues to support local people in getting more active, whether through gym sessions, swim lessons, fitness classes, or health referral programmes. For more information on Active Mid Devon leisure centres, activities, and memberships, visit: activemiddevon.com.
