Cullompton’s new cricket wicket and outfield, situated on Horn Road are now ready for the first overs to be bowled for the 2026 cricket season.

Completed last summer, the outfield has now matured and settled, and the wicket is primed, ensuring it is now ready for the first matches to take place.aerial view of Cullompton's new cricket field

The high-quality pitch meets the latest England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) standards, with modern drainage and irrigation systems helping to ensure consistent playing conditions throughout the season.

Temporary clubhouse and changing facilities are also in place for the start of the season, while brand-new permanent facilities are already under construction and due to be completed in the first quarter of 2027.

Cllr Steve Keable, Cabinet Member for Planning and Regeneration for Mid Devon District Council said: “The cricket pitch is looking stunning and I am delighted the club and its members will be able to enjoy their new facility this season, and for years to come.  The relief road project will bring many benefits to the community, through essential infrastructure improvements, as well as through investing in much-valued local sports facilities such as this.”

The new cricket facilities form part of the wider Cullompton Relief Road project, which will help to ease congestion and improve air quality in the town. In addition, the new ground will provide a valuable community space, benefiting residents, improving community wellbeing, encouraging participation in sport and inspiring the next generation of Cullompton cricketers.
