Residents making the most of Mid Devon's new app
Mid Devon District Council's residents' app is proving popular, with nearly 3,000 downloads since it launched in June this year.
The free app is designed to make accessing council services quicker and easier. Residents can use it to report issues, read council news and receive waste and recycling collection reminders.
Residents can also search and comment on planning applications, contact local councillors, access postcode-specific information and find useful local services, all from their smartphone or mobile device.
A popular feature is the waste and recycling collection reminder service. Residents can receive a notification at 5pm the day before their collection, reminding them which bin needs to be put out and helping to ensure collection days do not get missed.
Councillor Josh Wright, Cabinet Member for Service Delivery and Continuous Improvement, said:
"We're delighted that so many residents have downloaded the app and are making use of the services available through it.
"The app complements our existing website, social media channels and customer services team, giving residents another simple and accessible way to stay informed and access council services when it suits them."
The free app is available to download from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Residents simply need to search for Mid Devon District Council to find and install the app on their smartphone or mobile device.
The app has been designed with simplicity and accessibility in mind. By offering a simple self-service option for common queries, it helps free up phone lines for those residents who need more personalised support or prefer to speak directly to a member of staff.
