Key information for existing tenancies!

The Government has today issued the Official Information Sheet which MUST be served on existing tenants.

You must give this Information Sheet by 31 May 2026, or you could be fined up to £7,000.

Preparing for Renters Right Act Implementation

Guidance for landlords and letting agents, and tenants will continue to be issued - remember to be selective about where you source information. We would recommend official Government guidance, and use your landlord association memberships if you have them.

The government will continue to fund the Housing Loss Prevention Advice Service 14 (HLPAS) which provides anyone at risk of losing their home with free legal advice, and representation in court.

The council are being made aware of changes at the same time as the public and are busy preparing for the changes behind the scenes.
