Get up to £5,000 from Mid Devon District Council to help bring tourism, arts, culture and heritage into your town centre or village.

The Mid Devon Creative Communities Grant Scheme aims to support local organisations and community groups in developing and delivering tourism, arts, cultural and heritage projects that enrich communities, promote creativity, enhance cultural heritage, and reach new residents and visitors.

The Creative Communities initiative is dedicated to empowering local communities to bring innovative ideas to life. The Council is inviting businesses, organisations, event organisers, charities, and town and parish councils to submit projects that will invigorate our towns and villages, foster a vibrant community atmosphere, and celebrate local culture. This funding is designed to support projects that not only breathe new life into Mid Devon but also strengthen community connections and create attractive visitor destinations.

A key priority for this round of funding is to support quick-win projects that can be delivered by 31 March 2027, demonstrating immediate positive impact and responding to local needs. The Council is looking for projects that revitalise communities across Mid Devon, increase footfall and dwell time, create resilience and sustainability, and deliver community-led arts, cultural, heritage and creative programmes.

Projects could include:

• Heritage events, experiences, activities and trails celebrating local history
• Music, dance, cinema, theatre and arts festivals that attract visitors and support local talent
• Cultural celebrations, seasonal events and food festivals
• Tourism projects that encourage people to spend more time exploring Mid Devon

Councillor Steven Keable, Cabinet Member for Planning & Economic Regeneration, said:

“This funding is a great opportunity for community groups, organisations and businesses to bring creative ideas to life. By supporting arts, culture, heritage and tourism projects, we can boost our town centres and villages, attract more visitors, strengthen community pride and celebrate everything that makes Mid Devon unique."

Businesses and organisations working together can apply for up to £5,000, while individual businesses and organisations can apply for up to £1,000.
