The Leader of the Council and Cabinet have written to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Rt Hon Angela Rayner MP,  following the announcement of the interim warding arrangements for the four, new councils which are due to come into effect in April 2028.

These new arrangements follow a request from the Government and form part of the implementation of Local Government Reorganisation across Devon.

The wards announced are temporary arrangements intended to enable safe, lawful and deliverable elections for the new shadow authorities in May 2027. Any final decision on councillor numbers and warding arrangements lie with the Secretary of State and Parliament. It is also expected that the Local Government Boundary Commission for England will carry out a full independent electoral review in the next political term, once the new authorities have been established.
