When you apply for a licence, registration or permit we require a range of details including name, contact details, such as your address, email address and telephone number. If you choose not to supply the required information we will not be able to progress the application.
To ensure that applicants can be considered to be fit and proper, background checks are required for some applications. We require this information for safeguarding the public and complying with the legislation. If you choose not to supply the requested information, we will not be able to progress an application or renew a licence.
We will use this information to process applications, remind licensees of renewals and investigate complaints.
We will not use your information for any marketing purposes.
The information we collect is carefully stored electronically.
We will hold completed application forms and supporting documents during the lifetime of the licence. Once the licence has lapsed, been surrendered or revoked it is retained for six years.
We do not share your information with anyone else unless we are required to do so by law or it is necessary to provide our services to you. It should be noted that MDDC is under a duty to protect the public funds it administers, and to this end may use the information you provide for the prevention and detection of crime. It may also share this information with other bodies responsible for auditing or administering public funds for these purposes.
We may share your information with Legal Services if we are considering taking legal action, MDDC Public Health to ensure that the legislative obligations are met, Development Control where there may be planning implications, Devon, Torbay and Somerset Trading Standards to ensure that the legislative obligations are met, Devon County Council Children's Services Departments to assist with the protection of the public and ensure legal obligations are met, Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service to ensure legal obligations are met, Public Health Board (DA AT) to ensure legal obligations are met, Police to ensure legal obligations are met, Home Office to detect and deter crime, HMRC at their request or to detect and deter crime, Gambling Commission to ensure legal obligations are met, other Local Authorities where operators may cross districts, Disclosure and Barring Service to protect the public.
We process your information with your consent where it is in the public interest to do so, to comply with a legal requirement, where it is in the legitimate interest of MDDC to do so, with your explicit consent or where there is a substantial public interest.
