A Local Housing Needs Assessment has been completed for Mid Devon in September 2022. This is not a Council policy document, but is a technical assessment that includes information about the need for new homes in the district, including by house type, size and tenure (market and affordable homes). This technical information can be used by the Council, together with other technical evidence and studies about development viability and land availability for example, to help inform the preparation of a new Local Plan for the district. It can also be used to help inform the preparation of other plans, programmes and strategies.

It is intended the Local Housing Needs Assessment will be updated once the 2021 Census data has been published by the Office for National Statistics, and in relation to future changes to the Government’s standard method for calculating local housing need, and national housing policy.
