Artificial Intelligence (AI) Declaration - Consultation Open

We are consulting on a proposed new planning application validation requirement.

We are proposing the introduction of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Declaration Form, which would be submitted with planning applications.  The purpose of the declaration is to provide transparency regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the preparation of planning application submissions and supporting documents.

Before any decision is made on the introduction of this requirement, we are seeking comments from planning agents, applicants, consultees and other interested parties.

The consultation is open from 12 August 2026 until 5pm on 2 September 2026

You may comment upon the draft list by email to DMConsultations@middevon.gov.uk. After the consultation period, the Local Planning Authority will consider all the comments received and amend the Local List as appropriate. Once approved this will form the basis on which planning applications are deemed valid by Mid Devon District Council

Consultation Responses

Comments should be submitted by email to DMConsultations@middevon.gov.uk no later than 5pm on 2 September 2026.

You will receive an acknowledgement of your correspondence by email and your response will be held on our database for audit purposes.

Please note, although it will not be possible to respond to specific comments all comments will be recorded and fed into the consultation process.
