Search and comment on planning applications
How can I search for, view or track a planning application?
You can use IDOX Public Access for:
- planning applications
You can do a simple search by:
- application reference
- a single line of an address
If you can't find what you're looking for using the simple search, try using the 'advanced' search option. For further guidance see the IDOX Public Access - User Guide.
Please allow up to 48 hours for plans and documents associated with planning applications to be loaded onto the website.
To view county matters applications and decisions, see Devon County Council - Planning webpage (you will need the DCC reference).
How can I comment on a current planning application?
- submit a comment online using IDOX Public Access
- email us at firstname.lastname@example.org quoting the planning reference number
- write to us at: Planning, Mid Devon District Council, Phoenix House, Phoenix Lane, Tiverton, Devon EX16 6PP
Important: Please do not include any personal information that you would not wish to be publicly available or make any discriminatory comments. We reserve the right to withhold any comments or parts of comments that are offensive or defamatory. By submitting your comments you are confirming they are your personal views and not those of the local planning authority and you agree to accept legal responsibility for your comments.
Due to the large volume of letters the planning service receives about planning applications and notifications, it is not possible for case officers to reply individually to comments made by local residents and occupants.

Where does your comment appear?
By law, any written comments you make about a planning application must be publically available. Your comments will be published on our website, including your name and address.
Please note: If you do not provide or do not wish your name and address to appear then your comments will be treated as anonymous and your views will not be taken into account by the Planning Officer.
