SALARY: GRADE D £26,403 - £28,142 PER ANNUM
LOCATION: PHOENIX HOUSE, TIVERTON 

We are looking for a motivated and customer‑focused Customer First Officer to join our busy Customer First team at Mid Devon District Council.

This is a varied and flexible role, supporting our telephone service, reception and face‑to‑face enquiries, and the central administration team as required. You will be one of the first points of contact for our customers, helping to deliver a positive and professional experience across a range of channels.

About you

You will be enthusiastic, reliable, and keen to build your experience in customer service. You will enjoy working with people, be confident handling enquiries in a polite and efficient manner and be able to use your initiative while also working effectively as part of a team.

You will have:

  • Experience of customer care and dealing with a wide range of enquiries
  • A professional and courteous telephone manner
  • Good organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to work methodically and manage a range of administrative tasks
  • Competence in using IT systems
  • A flexible approach and willingness to support different service areas when needed

The role

Initially, your main duties will include responding to customer enquiries by telephone and through digital channels. Over time, the role will also involve providing cover for:

  • Administrative duties
  • The enquiries counter
  • The meet‑and‑greet desk at Phoenix House
