SALARY: GRADE D £27,274 - £29,071 PER ANNUM
LOCATION: TIVERTON

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our busy Public Health and Housing Options Service.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a diverse and fast-paced service that plays a vital role in protecting public health and supporting local communities. Whilst the role will support all aspects of Public Health work, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge in particular service areas.

Our Public Health service encompasses a broad range of functions, including Environmental Protection, Private Sector Housing, Food Safety, Health and Safety, Infectious Disease Control and a wide variety of Licensing activities. These range from taxi and private hire licensing to caravan sites, premises licensed under the Licensing Act 2003, and registration of tattooing, piercing and other skin treatment businesses.

As a key member of the team, you will provide essential business and administrative support to our front-line officers. You will be responsible for helping to coordinate service delivery across a varied regulatory environment, supporting the work undertaken to protect public health and promote compliance.

Your duties will include acting as a key point of contact for customers, partner organisations and other agencies, allocating and triaging service requests, maintaining records and databases, and providing a comprehensive range of business support to the service.

The successful candidate will have excellent organisational skills, be able to prioritise competing demands, and demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail when managing information and supporting business processes. You should hold, or be working towards, a relevant qualification such as a Level 3 NVQ in Business Administration or Customer Service and ideally have recent experience in a customer-focused administrative role. Experience of providing business support within a regulatory, local government or statutory environment would be advantageous.

You will be committed to delivering high-quality customer service and building effective working relationships with colleagues, elected members, partner agencies and members of the public. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are therefore essential.

The role requires confidence, resilience and professionalism, as you will occasionally be required to deal with challenging situations and sensitive enquiries.

Good IT skills are essential. Experience of using IDOX Uniform, LalPac and Orchard software would be desirable, although full training can be provided.
