PERMANENT: PART TIME - 18.5 HOURS PER WEEK 
SALARY: GRADE G £35,412 - £38,220 PRO RATA PER ANNUM
LOCATION: TIVERTON 

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual, who is passionate about animal welfare, to join the Public Health and Housing Options team as Regulatory Officer (Animal Welfare). 

The role will be working within our dedicated Licensing team, delivering work in connection with our premises licensed under the Licensing of Activities involving Animal Regulations, Zoo Licensing Act, and Dangerous Wild Animals Act. 

You will be responsible for processing applications and licences and conducting all required premises inspections. You will also be responsible for investigating complaints relating to licenced premises, as well as unlicensed activities, where a licence may be required. 

To deliver this role you must hold a suitable qualification, the Level 3 award for Animal Licensing Inspectors, or equivalent. 

Applications from those without a relevant qualification will be considered, if you can demonstrate significant relevant experience working in an animal regulatory role or with relevant animal husbandry. The successful candidate would need to commit to undertake the qualification within the first 6 months of starting within the role. 

Based out of Phoenix House, Tiverton, you will regularly be on District undertaking inspections, visits and surveillance and be able to benefit from the hybrid working policy. 

You must be able to build relationships with external partners, such as Devon and Cornwall police, RSPCA and local Veterinary Surgeons. You must also have excellent communication skills and a good understanding of evidence gathering principles and ensure that you operate within PACE and RIPA at all times. 

There will be opportunities to develop skills and experience across other areas of Licensing and Environmental Health, as you will support with wider complaint investigation and project delivery across the Licensing and Commercial Environmental Health teams.
