SALARY: £44,253 to £47,665 per annum

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced professional to join our Public Health and Housing Options Team as a Senior Officer (Private Sector Housing & Environmental Protection).
As a Senior Officer, you will lead complex investigations and deliver a wide range of regulatory and enforcement activities across Private Sector Housing and Environmental Protection. You will provide expert technical advice to colleagues, elected members and partners, ensuring services are delivered effectively and in line with legislation.
Working closely with internal teams, legal services and external agencies, you will undertake inspections, investigations and proportionate enforcement action. You will prepare legal case files, support prosecutions, represent the Council at hearings and court proceedings, and play a key role in protecting communities and improving local environments.
The role includes line management responsibility for Regulatory Officers within the Community Team, providing leadership, technical support and professional development to colleagues. You will contribute to service planning, performance management and the development of policies and procedures to support continuous service improvement.
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer with substantial knowledge of housing legislation, HMO licensing, environmental protection and enforcement. You will have experience of complex investigations, serving statutory notices, gathering evidence for legal proceedings and applying a risk-based approach to regulation and enforcement.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious professional looking to take the next step into a senior role, where you will influence service delivery, support team development and make a real difference to communities across the district.
You will be a confident and adaptable team player with excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, capable of working independently and managing a varied workload. Strong IT skills are essential, and experience of IDOX Uniform is desirable, although training will be provided.
The ability to travel throughout the Mid Devon area is essential.
