SALARY: GRADE G £35,412 - £38,220
LOCATION: TIVERTON
We are seeking to appoint a dedicated and motivated Housing Options Officer who would like to work in our busy Public Health and Housing Options Service.
The role of Housing Options Officer is 37 hours per week and will be responsible for their own case load as well as working as part of a team.
The post holder will be required to provide housing advice and support to those at risk of homelessness or in housing need, assess and determine homelessness applications in line with Housing Act and Homeless Reduction Act.
You will maintain an on-going knowledge and understanding of relevant housing legislation and will work with other agencies and services to find solutions. You will also investigate and take action to prevent homelessness, making decisions in all aspects of the Housing Act and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
The post holder will also be responsible for collating data for government returns that are crucial for funding bids.
Additionally the post holder will possess excellent communication, problem solving and decision making skills, this must be done in a compassionate and customer focused approach.
We are looking for someone who has relevant experience of working within a housing options/homelessness prevention service and has a competent working knowledge of housing legislation. (or the ability and passion to learn)
You should be committed to delivering excellent services and maintaining effective relationships with other officers, members and other key stakeholders/partners drawing upon good communication and interpersonal skills.
You will also need the confidence to deal with sometimes challenging or difficult situations and to work effectively with other authorities and agencies. Computer literacy is essential and a working knowledge of Jigsaw, Integrator and Orchard Software, is desirable (though training can be provided).
You may be asked to carry out off site visits so you will need full valid driving licence and have use of a suitable insured vehicle for business purposes
