An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Apprentice to join People Services at Mid Devon District Council. This is a fixed term position.
About the Role
As a People Services Apprentice, you will play a supportive role to our HR Advisors and HR Business Partner, gaining hands-on experience across a wide range of functions. This a varied role where you will:
- Contribute to the development and review of People Services policies and procedures, learning how organisational values are embedded in practice.
- Support Learning & Development initiatives by helping shape course content, maintaining the course catalogue, assisting in delivery, and gathering feedback to drive improvement.
- Promote and advocate wider People Services initiatives such as staff surveys, appraisal completion rates, and workforce planning projects.
- Assist with People Services casework by attending meetings where appropriate, maintaining accurate data trackers, and ensuring records are up to date.
- Work with the team to improve workforce data reporting, analyse trends, and support change initiatives across the Council.
- Help with producing correspondence and develop templates that reflect current working practices.
This role offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into both Employee Relations and Learning & Development. You will also be contributing to meaningful projects that support departments across the Council delivering services to the residents of Mid Devon.
About You
You will need to be qualified at A-Level/NVQ 3 or have a suitable level of experience. You will have strong written and oral communication skills. You should be enthusiastic about developing a career in Human Resources, with strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to develop knowledge, skills and experience.
About the Apprenticeship
This Apprenticeship will enable you to complete a People Professional (Level 5) Apprenticeship, developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become a qualified HR Professional. The programme will take approximately 25 months to complete, and will be delivered mainly online, with support from a tutor and colleagues in the People Services team. You will benefit from both on-the-job and off-the-job training, with dedicated time to complete coursework and assignments.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience while working towards a recognised qualification, setting the foundation for a career in Human Resources.
