What is the Cullompton Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan about?

Mid Devon District Council is preparing a fully updated Cullompton Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan (CAMP). The CAMP will help to preserve and enhance the historic town centre’s unique character and architecture.

The CAMP will also help to support the Cullompton High Street Heritage Action Zone (HAZ) including for the grants scheme and the Higher Bullring Enhancement works.

When will the consultation take place?

A public consultation will be held between 28 June and 13 August 2021.

This will be at the same time as public consultation on a draft Cullompton Town Centre Masterplan and a Cullompton (HSHAZ) Town Centre Public Realm Enhancement Project.

What about a public meeting?

There will be a public meeting on Tuesday 27th July, which will be held on-line via ZOOM between 4pm – 5.30pm for the Cullompton Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan (CAMP).

This will include expert speakers covering topics such as the history of the leat in Cullompton and the historic plan form of the town, before the Conservation Officer presents on the CAMP.

Entry to this event is only by pre-registering your interest by 10pm on the 26th July by emailing conservation@middevon.gov.uk with your name and address stating that you wish to attend the event. You will then be contacted by email on the morning of event and provided the joining instructions for Zoom.

How can I comment on the proposals?

Comments can be submitted via our online survey.

Paper copies of a Question Summary Sheet (to assist those wishing to comment) will be available from Cullompton Town Hall and Hayridge Centre from 28 June 2021 during normal working hours.

The Cullompton Conservation Area Appraisal was adopted as Supplementary Planning Guidance on 25 September 2003.

The most recent version of the Cullompton Conservation Area Appraisal can be found on this page on the right hand side under 'related media'.

The amended Cullompton Conservation Area was approved by Planning Committee on 11 March 2009 as part of the Cullompton Management Plan.

The Cullompton Conservation Area Management Plan (CAMP) was approved by Planning Committee on 11 March 2009 and has been adopted as a material consideration in dealing with planning applications and enhancement proposals within the conservation area boundary.

The Cullompton CAMP should be read in conjunction with the Cullompton Conservation Area Appraisal, chapters 1-5. The adopted CAMP supersedes chapters 6 and 7 of the Cullompton Conservation Area Appraisal.
