Any plugs or cables can be left attached to your electrical items, but please remove any batteries and place these in black recycling box 2.

If possible, please try to put your electrical items out ‘little and often’ due to the finite space onboard our collection vehicles.

Please clean oil and food residue off before placing in your green recycling box.

I don't have room in my green recycling box. What can I do?

If you have an old electrical item for recycling but you don't have enough room within your green recycling box, you can place it alongside your boxes. Alternatively, if you require an additional green recycling box, you can order one using our online form or by calling our Customer Services team on 01884 255255. See our Order a bin or box page for more information.

Why's it important to recycle my electrical items?

As technology evolves, the speed at which existing electronic and electrical items depreciate is rapid. However, many of these items contain valuable plastics and metals. With natural resources in limited supply, combined with soaring waste disposal costs, it's important that we recycle these items so that they can be used in new products.

How will the electrical items collected be recycled?

Any electrical items that we collect will first be shredded, then mechanically separated into plastics, ferrous metals and non-ferrous metals. The recovered plastics will be used to produce street furniture. Any metals recovered will be recycled in to new products.

How can I recycle large electrical items?

If you have any large electrical items that you wish to recycle, you can arrange a collection using our Bulky waste collection service.

Alternatively, you can take them to your local recycling centre.
