Publication Scheme
What is the Publication Scheme?
The Freedom of Information Act places a legal obligation on us to produce a Publication Scheme. The scheme is produced in line with the model publication scheme as recommended by the Information Commissioners Office.
In line with the scheme, we are committed to:
- Proactively publish or otherwise make available as a matter of routine, information, including environmental information, which is held by the authority and falls within the classification below
- Produce and publish the methods by which the specific information is made routinely available so that it can be easily identified and accessed by members of the public
- Review and update on a regular basis the information the authority makes available under this scheme
- Produce a schedule of any fees charged for access to information, which is made proactively available

The method by which information under this scheme will be made available
The majority of information listed under the scheme is available on the Council's website. Links to the categories of information set out above are provided in the Publication Scheme. If the information you require is not available through a link in the publication scheme, or through other stated arrangements in the publication scheme, then it may be available by way of making a Freedom of Information or Environmental Information Regulations request.
Information is generally provided under the Open Government License (OGL) and is available for you to reuse. Where any exceptions apply to this, we will let you know.
Charges which may be made for information published under this scheme
Information that is available electronically through the Publication Scheme and the Council's website is available free of charge. Information provided outside of these arrangements will be sent by email free of charge or if requested in hard copy, the cost of copying and posting will be chargeable. Where documents are only available to view by appointment there is no charge.
How do I make a written request?
Information held by Mid Devon District Council that is not published can be requested in writing, and its disclosure will be considered under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act / EIR Regulations.
